Navman is a leading manufacturer of world-class marine electronics and Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. Established in 1988, the New Zealand based company provides a diverse range of navigation technologies across wide ranging industries.
Navman holds a unique position as an electronics company, employing more than 150 staff involved in the design, development and manufacture of products including satellite GPS receivers, chart plotters, fuel flow measurement devices, boat speed gauges, depth and wind instruments, autopilots and fish finders.
Satellite navigation technology has been a core technology for Navman's products from inception. The company recognises the need for applications in transportation, recreation, survey and personal information. The Navman range offers a complete line of GPS engines in cost effective and flexible configurations with applications as diverse as commercial fleet tracking to low cost consumer 'in car' and mobile computing GPS products.
Navman also works closely with world leading hardware partners, for example Palm, Microsoft and Compaq, in developing its range of handheld GPS clip-on jackets. This effectively demonstrates the converging worlds of computing, wireless communications and in-car telematics.
Award winning products such as the first GPS receiver at "chip set" level has made Navman a recognised technology provider in the satellite navigation industry.
Navman, to date, is the only manufacturer to offer a comprehensive product range that supports both Palm and Pocket PC operating systems as well as the Windows platform, with products such as the GPS clip on jackets for the worlds leading handheld PDA manufacturers.
R & D
In the last decade, Navman has continued to grow and invest in its ISO compliant manufacturing plant, R&D and software publishing divisions in Auckland, New Zealand.
The plant offers world-class facilities and a strong commitment to continued investment in mass production machinery and environmental test equipment. This ensures that it can consistently deliver robust, accurate and easy to use products for the Critical Location and Telematics market.
Custom solutions include integrated OEM GPS modules and branded finished products.
